Rapid, resilient housing, printed.

Fort-Alesa is an initiative led by Pangea Biotecture with IAAC, OTTER and a network of European collaborators, addressing one of the continent’s most urgent needs: affordable, climate-resilient housing.

Section C-300: a 3D-printed dual wall On the left, a printer nozzle on a gantry travels back and forth along the wall, laying one bead of material per pass so the wall rises layer by layer from the foundation. On the right, a plan cut through the finished wall shows an outer printed skin, an inner printed skin that acts as thermal mass, a zig-zag printed web tying the two together, and the cavity between them filled with insulation. Section C-300. The printer lays the wall one bead at a time from the digital model. Two printed skins, tied by a printed web, hold insulation between them: mass inside, insulation outboard of it, the same rule as every Pangea wall.
